Testing a call me thingy
So, I decided to try my attempt at getting myself a new hobby. Today’s idea was Cake Decorating. Yes, I said Cake Decorating. I figured that this was a pretty good hobby idea to an extent because 1. I don’t sleep much and it is quiet enough to do in the middle of the night. 2. it’s actually pretty cheap. 3. I can’t eat the cake, but I know several people who would gladly take it to eat it. 4. If I become good at it, that is a potential money maker idea (well, okay, I seriously doubt that. But hey, I love wishful thinking!)
An it was an insomniac night indeed.
Of course to make the cakes flat, I had to cut off the poof.

I then assembled the four layers after making, cooling, and depuffing all of them.

Yay Royal Icing! Seriously, I had no idea about RI before I started reading up on cake decorating today.. well, yesterday now.

OMG MMF! Again, I didn’t really know about Fondant until I started reading up on cake decorating. This was my very first attempt. Not the best, but half decent.

The cake is no where NEAR being done, but I am done for today working on it. I spent HOURS on it so far. I never realized how hard this could be for something that just looks so simple. I will never question why Wedding Cakes cost so much anymore.

Now the other thing I wanted to attempt was to make the sugar flowers. I KNEW this would be super hard, but I wanted to attempt at it anyway. This here is some gum paste. It is almost like MMF, but it dries HARD and it keeps it’s shape better, unlike MMF. I wanted a yellow tint to it, but I guess I added a bit too much because I didn’t want it yellow yellow, I just wanted a tint.

I fixed the color, it took a little work to fix it though.

I was surprised how well the flower was turning out.

My finished flower… Okay, almost finished, I need to get some accent color to highlight a bit. But that requires me going back to the store later.
The fun thing was, the flower… completely edible. All sugar.
So today felt like a semi productive day. Really! I actually went and mopped the whole house and swept. After that, I had an urge to play my violin, and I did, for several hours actually. I’m sure it annoyed the hell out of everyone around, but you know what, I don’t care. After that, I went to work (boo). I still feel like a walking zombie, sadly. I can’t seem to wake up. I’m really starting to believe that I do have that iron deficiency, and that it may be getting worse. I guess I need to go pick up some vitamins or something.
Anyway, I have some backlog of some pics and stuff I want to post. I guess starting with my road trip, I have a few pictures of the Grand canyon. Oh my god, the place was absolutely beautiful. I went there when I was a kid. Back then it was just a giant hole in the ground. I’m glad I got to go again in my adult years, it was definitely worth the drive.
Of course I have some random pictures of my family. Why wouldn’t I? I have my baby cousin Hannah here. She is absolutely adorable (and I really need to make more of an effort to go visit her and my Aunt Suzi) more often.) I just need to find the time.
Of course there is my grandma and papa. Okay, I didn’t take these pictures. I actually handed Hannah the camera, and she told them to do a funny pose, and so they were playful enough to do just that. (I seriously think most of my family is pretty nutty, I am not excluded from this either.)
Then there is my absolutely insane mother. Sometimes we get along, sometimes we don’t. Depends on the moon cycle I think, seriously. That’s one of the many reasons I can come up with. I have a few pictures of her Halloween costume. I didn’t actually like her gothic red riding hood, but I did enjoy the mutilated wolf head in a basket she carried around. That was actually pretty awesome. Sadly I didn’t dress up for Halloween, so I don’t have pictures of myself on this day. It was mainly me having to work. I did do my nails pretty neat. I should have taken a picture. Maybe I’ll do them again the way I had them pretty soon.
Now, the next pictures are of Lachrisha. She came over to my house not too long ago. She had needed an updo for her hair because she was a brides made in a wedding for her friend. Of course, my hairstylist of a mother was out of town on a camping trip (I swear, it was like 50 degrees outside and she was camping…) so I did Lachrisha’s hair. I think I did a pretty good job, considering I’m not a hairstylist at all. Okay, mom did teach me a lot about hair through the years, and she gave me a few pointers before she went out of town. Still, I think I did a pretty good job.
And this will probably be the only semi decent picture of Arthur I or anyone will EVER see. He never liked his pictures getting taken. I think this is the only good one I dug up. Seriously, someone upload it to myspace and facebook and tag this boy so it shows a picture of him on his profile.
And just for all randomness, the Saint Louis Arch. I’ve been going to Saint Louis pretty frequently. So much to do down there.
Andddddd That’s all I have.
Happy Birfday Amber my dear!

I don’t want to go to work today. I still feel too tired, even after getting way more than enough sleep.
Have you ever had one of those days that were just uggg? Yeah, today I am having one of those. It is my day off today, I’m supposed to be having an exciting day, doing things, having fun. Okay, so I did do things and I did have fun. I went to old town Saint Charles today and walked around. I love the place. I also couldn’t resist getting a cannoli and a baklavah. Just thinking about pastry’s is making me want to make up some kolashki’s. Despite the fact that I did go and try to have some fun, I’m still not feeling all that great. (I’m not going to go into that here on the internet, but I haven’t been feeling well for all of maybe almost a week and a half now.) I also haven’t seemed to have been able to wake up yet today. I just felt… almost zombie-like.
Yes, I did it. I just compared myself to a zombie. How awesome is that? Okay, not really. I just feel tired and dead today.
So, I was looking up the medicine that I am taking right now, trying to figure out some of the side effects. A few which I have:
* Dry Mouth
* Unexplained bruising (Seriously, I counted 15 as of last night all over my body. Not one I can account for.)
The unexplained bruising is considered a “Less Common / Rare” Side effect, aka, I probably just have an iron deficiency again. Go figure. I’d rather not eat nails for breakfast thank you so much mr. body that thinks I need to to survive. However, there were two side effects on my medicine that I thought were the coolest thing under the same “Less common / Rare” side effect category.
* The Feeling that others can read your mind
* The Feeling that others are watching and can control your actions.
* Hallucinations
Seriously, are those not the coolest side effects ever? If I could have side effects, why couldn’t I have those? Well, okay, they sound fun at this moment, but I’m sure if I had them I would probably drive myself crazy and would probably be freaking out horribly.
So I got my keyboard setup today. I no longer have to use the IME to type Japanese anymore. Yay and neh… Yay to the fact I can type faster, neh to the fact I have to relearn how to type on it, considering it is in well.. Japanese. The keyboard setup is unfamiliar to me (except for the romanji part). Still, I can’t type ka su mi anymore (six key strokes minus the spaces) but now I have to just type かつみ at only three key strokes. Yeah… I still need to get used to where they are. It will come in time though. Still super excited.
